The challenge at Freeday

Freeday is a Rotterdam-based scale-up, founded in 2020, on a mission to free organizations from repetitive tasks. Their digital colleagues, smart AI assistants, take over workflows in areas such as customer service, KYC, and accounts payable. This gives employees the space to focus on more meaningful and complex work. These digital colleagues operate 24/7, flawlessly and at scale, helping organizations accelerate processes, cut costs, and boost team performance. With demand for Freeday’s AI solutions growing rapidly, the company itself is scaling at high speed. To sustain that growth, Freeday continuously needs tech-savvy talent that can make an immediate impact while also growing with the ambitions of the scale-up. Freeday’s challenge centered on three key points: the need for ready-to-contribute, future-proof talent that drives growth; safeguarding cultural fit during a phase of rapid expansion; and competing for scarce technical talent in a highly competitive market where attracting and retaining the right people is crucial for lasting success.

Our approach

From day one, Freeday worked with Talent Sourcing Partner to establish a scalable and agile talent pipeline. Through direct contact with the founder, we were able to align our recruitment strategy seamlessly with Freeday’s growth trajectory. We chose a two-track approach. With StudentFlex, we provided flexible, project-based deployment of students with energy, curiosity, and learning ability. This allowed Freeday to scale up capacity immediately while at the same time building a talent pool for the future. In parallel, TalentSpark delivered the long-term inflow of not-so-ordinary young professionals in technical and growth-critical roles: talent that makes an impact today while contributing to the next phase of Freeday.

The results

Together, we laid the foundation for a scalable talent pipeline that supports Freeday both short- and long-term. With ambitious young talent, Freeday accelerated team growth cost-effectively, directly fueling operational growth and innovation. Enthusiastic StudentFlex talents delivered high impact at lower costs, while recruitment through TalentSpark provided young professionals for key positions. Freeday strengthened its internal capacity to train and develop future AI professionals. This was proven by students growing into permanent roles such as AI Software Engineer, typically after 1.5 years part-time and one year full-time. One alumnus even launched his own company, inspired by his experience at Freeday. Successful placements, such as an Implementation Lead and a Software Engineer, highlight how the combined strength of StudentFlex and TalentSpark continues to structurally support Freeday’s growth ambitions.
